"A Warm Greeting"
George A. July 2019. We are warmly greeted by Christine and shown to our very comfortable twin bed room which is clean and well lit as it is attached to the conservatory. The breakfast was outstanding freshly prepared and all the food was locally sourced. Christine, and her friend Ann-Marie from Dublin, were at pains to make us welcome.Without hesitation I recommend Garden Cottage and will certainly stay there again if I have the opportunity - and there is a vacancy!!
"Breakfasts Cooked To Perfection"
Carole B and Donna W. Naugatuck, CT USA. June 2019 We have stayed at Garden Cottage several times while visiting friends in the UK. We always look forward to seeing Christine and receiving her customary warm welcome, lovely accommodation, and fabulous English breakfasts cooked to perfection! Highly recommended.
"A Superb Home Away From Home"
Ami, Israel. We spent 6 days-and-nights in this fascinating place and enjoyed every minute and every aspect of it: its quiet and beauty, the room comfort and spotless cleanliness, the perfect location (12-minute walk from the city center, or 3 minutes by bus which has a stop in front of the house), and above all the captivating personality of the owner, Christine Jenkin. She treated us royally as if we were close relatives. She waited for us late into the night when our flight was delayed, made us hearty breakfasts, gave us rides to places around, and served as a flowing fountain of info on sights and events in the area. So much so that it was sad to leave at the end. As frequent users of this kind of service we may say that this one is not the standard B&B; rather, it is a unique experience which upgrades the quality of the entire stay in this charming town.
"The travelling businessman’s haven"
Amanada & Roger. I felt I wanted to message you to say a big Thank You for our lovely but all too brief stay. We loved your house and the area and especially the breakfast !!!!! I can tell you have put a lot of yourself into your home and a lot of love into it too. It was really lovely to meet you and if we are ever round there again would not think of staying anywhere else. Will tell everyone about our little find .
Margaret & Karl, Austra. It's nothing more to say than, Perfect.
Sally & Robin, Lancashire. We love this place. Had a lovely stay. Hospitality excellent, breakfast fab!
Gerry K. Surrey. Garden Cottage is the first ever B&B I feel compelled to publicly recommend. I am a resident of Surrey travelling the entirety of the UK for the business of a company headquartered in Coventry. As such, I routinely have to spend between 1 and 4 nights a week in the area. At first, I used a variety of hotels and B&Bs. After discovering Garden Cottage however, I never stayed - or ever wanted to stay - anywhere else. The reasons for this go well beyond the standard rating criteria and are mainly to do with my personal likes and dislikes which I suspect must not be uncommon in the travel-for-business community: - I like: total privacy (and not just when I’m in my bedroom), total flexibility (as regards the timing of anything – arrival, departure, breakfast if any, etc.), a high level of functionality (essentially places to put my stuff where I like it to be and work space if I need to work) and last but not least a good variety of places to eat within walking distance. I dislike: checking in & out processes, fussy environments and hosts, having to make polite conversation when I don’t want to, and anything that frustrates my “likes” as above. The place itself ticks all the boxes but crucially and as if by magic, Christine, the owner and hostess of Garden Cottage seemed to know all my likes and dislikes from my first appearance and delivered on them consistently thereafter (more than four years). What more can anyone ask for? The standard criteria of value, location, etc. are all absolutely fine and I’ve given them all a blanket 4 out of 5. But despite being the most important, there is no criterion for the excellence or otherwise of the hostess. I would have given it a 10 for brilliance.
Welburn. York. I spent two nights at Garden Cottage whilst on a course in Leamington. It was just delightful. Christine, the owner is the perfect hostess, available for a chat or with advice if that's what you want , but happy to leave you to your own devices. I had the double room which was very comfortable with a good ensuite shower room, a little settee, table and chair and TV which you could swivel to watch from chair or bed. And luxury of luxuries an electric blanket - not that the house was cold , but it was a very nice extra. Breakfast was in the conservatory and Christine happily produced exactly what I wanted. There was a kettle in the room with ample supplies of tea and coffee and even a chunky kitkat! The centre of Leamington with shops and places to eat is an easy ten to fifteen minute walk away. What I liked most of all was the wonderful collection of books and arty bits and pieces - in my room, in the conservatory , all over. Christine has lived in Kenya and has any number of beautifully illustrated books on African jewellry, rock art etc - but whatever your interests your sure to find something to read! Very different from being stuck in a hotel with only the room service menu for entertainment! Garden Cottage is a bit tricky to find - espcially in the dark - but it's well worth the couple of U turns you could well find yourself making!
Bob. Horsham, Sussex. I have stayed at Garden Cottage several times in the past for both business and pleasure, singly or with family and have always found the warmest of welcomes. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the breakfasts are a perfect start to any day. Thank you Christine. I will be back.
